Your NetID account authenticates your login to a variety of other systems. If you have forgotten your NetID password, or if it has expired, you can use Password Self Service to reset your NetID password yourself,. (NOTE: you must set up your Password Self-Service in advance. You will be asked to set it up when you log into email for the first time. See instructions below.). .
Go to the O365 Login Page:
Put in your Downstate email address. You'll be redirected to the campus login page (see below).
Choose "Forgot Password?" link. Enter your email address and fill in the displayed letters.
Next, choose a contact method from your pre-set verified options - text or call your phone number, or send to your secondary email account.
Retrieve and use the information from the contact to verify you, then enter a new password.
Click on the link Sign Up for Password Self Service (see red arrow).
Follow the on-screen instruction to add your mobile phone number and/or alternative email address as the second factor authentication method(s).
After logging in, you will be given the opportunity to enter a phone number and another email address that you can use to reset your password in the future. You will be asked to respond to one of these to verify that you have access to that phone number or email address.
After you've passed the verification, you can use the "Forgot Password?" link anytime (see above image) to reset your password without being asked for the original password.
