Panopto is able to automatically generate a transcript of your recording sessions. This is an important tool for bringing your teaching materials into compliance with the American Disabilities Act.

Adding Closed Captions to Your Panopto Recording

Panopto is able to automatically generate a transcript of your recording sessions. This is an important tool for bringing your teaching materials into compliance with the American Disabilities Act. 

Adding captions is very simple:

  • Mouseover your session and select the Edit button:

  • In sidebar menu, select Captions > Import Captions > Import automatic captions.

NOTE: It may take a few minutes for the captions to be generated by Panopto.

 

  • Click on the blue Apply button in the top menu.
  • That's it! After a short processing time, you will see a CC icon beneath the title of your session.

NOTE: If your session was already approved for viewing, you will need to reapprove it by clicking Settings > Approve.
