Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice

Compiled by Duke University Medical Center Library.

For any health care practitioner or student who needs a basic introduction to the principles of Evidence-Based Practice. 

One hour tutorial with one practice case.

Tutorial goals:  upon completion user will be able to 

  • define Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)

  • identify the parts of a well-built clinical question

  • identify searching strategies that could improve PubMed searching

  • identify key critical appraisal issues that help determine the validity of a study

Evidence Based Practice - An Independent Study Short Course for Medical-Surgical Nurses

These two brief modules highlight the Iowa model of Evidence-Based Practice for Medical Surgical nurses.

They illustrate how EBP directly relates to current nursing practice.

Provides evidence for EBP for doubters.

Self-Guided Tutorial on Evidence-Based Nursing

Offered by the NYU Bobst Library 

There are three modules:  Beginners Research Guide, Evidence-

Based Nursing, and Tools

The first section is a guide to different types of available literature and a specific guide to Bobst Library Resources.

Module 1.5 compares a PubMed citation and a CINAHL citation.
