If, during your research, you identify items not owned by the Library, you can still gain access to those materials. Through Interlibrary Loan, we will find out who has the item you request and get a copy for you.
In the case of books, we will borrow a copy of the book from another library and then loan it to you. Loans are subject to the policies of the lending library.
In the case of journal articles, we will request that the lending library make a copy and then we will pass it along to you. If the article is available electronically, we can email you a copy.
The first time you access the Interlibrary Loan module, you will have to register. Click on the link labeled "First Time Users" and then provide the information requested. You will be asked to provide your own ID an password.
You can also log in to check on the status of a request.
This is a free service to Downstate users.
