D2L Brightspace Learning Management System

In 2022, Downstate is migrating from Blackboard Learn to Brightspace.  Some programs began using Brightspace during Summer 2022 courses. Remaining programs in Nursing, School of Health Professions and School of Public Health programs will move to Brightspace for their Fall 2022 courses.  Other users will begin use in January 2023..

Learning about D2L Brightspace

• Watch a brief overview on navigation, course layout and key help resources.
• Faculty: Learn on a "Sandbox" Course
  • Use the Registration link at sunyplay.brightspacedemo.com/d2l/login to create an account. Only those with a Downstate email  can register for a self-service sandbox.
  • Once you register, return to the link above and log in.  A site will be created that containing two courses: a blank one and a course with existing content, assessments and more.

  • Browse the Brightspace video tutorial channel on Youtube.
  • Access the support documentation and ask questions at D2L's support portal: community.brightspace.com
