Blackboard Learn courses will be imported into archives within Brightspace that faculty can tap as they build their courses.
Blackboard (Bb) Learn course cartridges will be imported into D2L Brightspace (BrSp). These course imports will not become the actual Brightspace course offerings that will be used for teaching. Instead, they will serve as an easy-to-access cloud storage. Faculty and instructional designers can copy the materials from these intermediate sites into their actual course offerings that will be eventually be used by students.
Phase 1. Testing
Selected Summer 2021 courses from the pilot degree programs are being imported into our Brightspace learning management system (LMS).
After import, the import site will be checked by staff and select faculty designees, reporting any areas that are broken or missing to D2L.
IF applicable/possible, D2L will adjust and then rerun the import process to rerun.
Phase 2. Importing
Academic Computing and Technology (ACT) will supply a list of courses to import.
D2L and SUNY ITEC will perform an batch export/import for selected courses in Blackboard Learn.
Phase 3. Faculty Review
Principal course faculty will notified once they have access to the intermediate export storage sites.
Faculty should check the import to report any broken/missing items for followup and possible re-import.
Phase 4. Course Building
Faculty will be responsible for building their courses, including copying course materials from the import storage to the actual course site.
