Panopto Setup in Brightspace

Panopto is a web hosted service for recording / and streaming video. This guide is focused on how to use the integration with Brightspace. If you are unfamiliar with using Panopto, you can learn more here.

Course layout design usually includes a module folder titled Recordings or Panopto with a Panopto Video - BRK link.  This link is required for initial set up — do not delete!  If you do not have / see it, you will need to create it:

• Click on Content; scroll down to the bottom and choose Add a Module.
• Click on the new module, then drop down the Existing Activities list at the top of the page; choose External Learning Tool.
• From the pop-out that appears, choose Panopto Video - BRK.

Course faculty must click on the Panopto Video - BRK link before the course begins in order to:

1. Trigger the creation of a course folder inside Panopto itself to hold the recordings.
2. Grant access to the course's folder inside Panopto and synchronize accounts between the Brightspace course and Panopto.

Depending upon your college/school's instructional design policy, faculty can hide the Recordings folder and have students access recordings via individual links posted inside individual modules.
