Scholarly Publishing @Downstate: Get started

Getting started

Scholarly publishing has changed very quickly in many ways. Gone are the days of sorting through stacks of bound print journals to make Xerox copies of articles that you find of interest. With the advent of the online journals, the publishing cycle has sped up and seen an explosion of titles.

National and institutional policies around scholarly publishing have changed as well. Open Access has made so much research freely available and upended the traditional publication model.

To help you navigate this changing and somewhat complicated area of scholarly publishing, we've created a few topic specific pages to help you get started - and what to look out for.
